Derek Christopher Shepherd, also known as "McDreamy", is a fictional neurosurgeon from the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Actor Patrick Dempsey portrays the character, who first appeared in the pilot episode in 2005. Dempsey played the role from 2005–2015, and again from 2020–2021.
