Born and raised alone on Angel Island, Knuckles assumed the mantle of the Master Emerald's guardian, fiercely protecting both it and the island from intruders. Despite protecting the Master Emerald out of duty, Knuckles ultimately was unaware of his ancestral roots to the echidna Clan.
